Training and research in Belgium

At the end of November Suneel Shivdasani visited Belgium on a follow-up trip for the research that Thomas Hieber and he did last August.

A church leader in Gent had asked me to teach his church a prayer tool that I’d shown him, but was also willing to visit the local Gurudwara and Mosque. So I contacted churches elsewhere to see if I could take their leaders or members to meet their local South Asians.

It’s enough of a challenge to do this in the UK, but God proved faithful, and by the end of the week a church leader had visited and prayed with Sikhs in Knokke-Heist and Ostend; another leader (and missionary couple) had visited the Gurudwara in Gent. We also tried the Mosque, but it was closed. And another missionary had come with me to the Gurudwara in Sint Truiden and the mosque in Alken, building relationships with people at both. In every case it took them beyond their previous experience and opened doors for future contact. I also trained established Christians in ways to reach out that they were grateful for, as well as extending the research of the earlier trip.

On the last day, I was able to pray with a Belgian lady for a family. She wasn’t a Christian, and I’d been told that Belgians assert the freedom not to hear religious messages. So to be able to create the opportunity for her to “Taste and see that the Lord is God, and good”, was a miracle! It was the day that the 5:17 group were praying for me. So… thanks for your prayers!
