A new Training Centre in North India

Paul & Su East have been travelling in India to visit old friends

It’s been a pleasure to spend time with Pastor Daniel & Phebe (with their son Dominic) who have just bought a property outside Chandigarh to develop a Training and Retreat Centre for pastors (Shepherds) and their families as well as young people.

Daniel came to the Lord from a Hindu background and was baptized in 1996. He has had a passion to share his faith and also a strong desire to mentor and teach others doing similar work. After nearly thirty years in Saharanpur, pastoring a large, independent Anglican church, he and his wife Phebe have moved further north near the modern, dynamic city of Chandigarh. They would like to see new congregations planted and leadership trained and refreshed.

It’s a ministry of great potential in this city, where it is estimated that there are 500,000 people who have migrated from Bihar, Western U.P. and the Garhwal Hills hoping to find a better life, doing manual work.

They have already had young people come for training and retreat, living in basic conditions, and they are working on building new accommodation for larger numbers. They are keen to encourage young leaders to be tentmakers, not relying on funds from outside. Their son, Dominic, shares their vision and is working hard with them.
