School of Biblical Teaching’s impact in Punjab

Ramjit Singh’s picture appeared recently on the front cover of India Today, a leading weekly magazine. He is a Sikh background pastor who is part of a movement in Punjab, NW India. Some aspects of the movement raise concerns, such as undue promising of healing and prosperity. In February 2021 Ramjit had approached SBT, seeking clear and wholesome Bible teaching for his church. He loved what he found, enrolled in ETC, and has run SBT workshops for his local church leaders in Amritsar, Punjab.

Ramjit needs our prayer for protection from those who oppose the movement and from Christian groups who may want to use him for their purposes, given this publicity.

He is one of several past or present ETC students who have been training others as part of the SBT network.

From August to October 2022 they organised workshops and taught in eight locations, four of them new. 35-45 attended each session.

Anupgarh in Rajasthan had the most colourful setting, while Srinagar in Kashmir had the tightest security: “Due to opposition from different faith communities, organising a workshop in Kashmir and Srinagar is dangerous and very difficult. There are underground secret house churches and the leaders and pastors cannot meet or declare themselves openly…. we were able to teach the word of God and encourage individual leaders.”
