Robin Thomson writes, “I wanted to tell this story to help other caregivers, families and friends, sharing the same pain and pressures, as well as the hope and resources. Every experience of dementia is different, so it is just our story. It is also a reflection on our experience of the health and social care systems, which is relevant as we look for radical reform to social care, especially in light of the current pandemic.
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can be truly fearsome and mysterious. But we don’t need to be afraid. The persons affected are still persons and we go on relating to them with love, attention and warmth.”
Robin is continuing to create awareness through writing and by organising seminars in churches and community groups.
