First stage response to Pakistan floods
We have all seen recent news of the devastating flooding across Pakistan with the misery it has caused.
- Over 30 million affected, over 1,000 dead, including hundreds of children since the monsoon rains started in June.
- Homes made of mud or unbaked bricks have dissolved; summer crops have been completely destroyed; animals drowned, roads and bridges washed away.
- Many families in Pakistan live hand to mouth so simply don’t have the resources to survive such a disaster.
- Prices for emergency supplies like mosquito nets and plastic sheeting have shot up with the crisis.
We know that the floods aren’t over yet – more water is flowing down from the mountains, and with it, mud landslides. The recovery process will take years, so this appeal is to help with the first stage of the crisis:
We want to stand with partners in Pakistan who have been faithfully working to serve their communities. They themselves have been affected but continue to serve others who are more needy. By resourcing them, we are encouraging them to keep helping.
Our partners, who include Pakistan Partnership Initiative (PPI), are well established in Pakistan, working with local projects that make a genuine difference to people’s lives. They will ensure that help goes to families regardless of religion and caste, without distinction.
In the coming months there will be need for further support, but helping now will save lives, reduce the level of health-related needs, and help our partners to be better positioned for the next stage.
Please give generously.

Please do pray:
for people affected by the floods
- Pray for those who have lost their loved ones. Ask God to draw near to them and comfort them in this time of grief.
- Pray for provision of clean water, food and safe shelter
- Pray for protection from waterborne illnesses and from mosquito and animal bites, as people are forced to sleep outside.
for those responding to the flooding
- Pray for wisdom and energy for local, national and international leaders as they respond to this crisis.
- Pray for strength and energy for healthcare workers and other first-responders who are working around the clock to help.
for the church
- Pray for church leaders – many of whom have lost their homes and church buildings – and who are still living out God’s call to care for anyone in their community in need.
