For churches to grow and stay healthy it is vital that new believers and leaders are nurtured. SAC is part of the School of Biblical Teaching network in north India that trains and mentors hundreds of church planters to study and teach the Bible, disciple their congregations and train local leaders.
School of Biblical Teaching (SBT)
The School of Biblical Teaching is a network of churches and organisations that trains leaders to study, apply and teach the Bible effectively, so that they can train others. It is led by Rev Devender Verma and, as well as running training courses, SBT also produces audio-visual and printed study materials.
Every year the School of Biblical Teaching is able to equip nearly 1000 people by building up and resourcing a team of 12 -15 Resource People. They teach and train a group of ‘A’ trainers (50–100 people) who then teach a larger circle of ‘B’ trainers (c. 600 people). The ‘B’ trainers teach their local house church leaders, so that the movement multiplies organically from a local church base.
Ezra Theology Course (ETC)
In 2015, the Ezra Theology Course (ETC) was developed as part of the ministry of SBT. ETC provides recognised, college-level training in Hindi from a local church base.
Students are carefully selected and continue to serve in their local church setting, guided by their own church leaders and working closely with a mentor who monitors progress and facilitates their admission in appropriate study courses.
Most of the believers who receive training are from India’s poorest communities and would never be able to afford to attend a Bible college full-time. That’s why South Asian Concern is partnering with the School of Biblical Teaching and the Ezra Theology Course to help provide funding for these students.
For £25/month you can sponsor a pastor and provide them with the training they need. As well as helping to fund the costs of their studies, you’ll also receive reports from the pastor you are supporting. Please consider partnering with us in raising up the next generation of Indian leaders.
