Jesus came into the world to demonstrate God’s character of love and justice and to open the way to God. He did this by helping people understand that God loved them, healing the sick, showing solidarity with the poor and marginalised, and confronting religious hypocrisy. He didn’t turn anyone away, or condemn guilty people but forgave them. He demonstrated that he has authority and power over nature, evil spirits and even life itself. He was crucified to take the punishment we deserve for being selfish and self-centred, and came back to life a few days later demonstrating that he has authority to do this. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to follow Jesus.
